Emma is a mixed media contemporary abstract artist, living and working in Bristol UK. Her paintings and drawings explore the relationship between colour, space, texture and pattern. Living in Bristol Emma is drawn to the ever evolving graffiti within the city and she is especially drawn to the areas where different pieces of street art find themselves next to or overlapping each other, where often a clash of styles and colour palettes occur. This clash is woven into her own paintings and drawings. Emma’s abstract pieces often develop the theme of time passing, as depicted through the use of layers and the peeling back of paint or other mediums.
Emma studied Fine Art at Plymouth University where she specialised in painting during her final year. On leaving university her work has been in exhibitions at Royal William Yard -Plymouth, SaLon Gallery - Notting Hill and at Paintworks - Bristol. Shortly after this Emma was contacted by a representative from the Saatchi Gallery who selected her work for the ‘Best of the UK’ exhibition. Only 25 Fine Art graduates from across UK took part in this national competition.
Fast forward 11 years and Emma is teaching and supporting children with mental health and well-being needs and using her art to stimulate and promote engagement with education.
